This is part of our ongoing series following a Kitchen Warehouse customer’s kitchen and bath remodel project. See the others here.
The very first thing that I noticed was how much larger my rooms looked without the dividing wall there. Our new kitchen was going to be really open and I was excited about the space we would have when we entertained. Now that we had one larger room uninterrupted we were not willing to cut it up with different floor patterns or materials.
When it came to our flooring choice, we were trying to figure out the best material for the kitchen and keep our old timey oak hardwood floors in the dining room and living room. After looking at the cost to refinish our floors, change our kitchen tile floor to something that would match, and some kind of transition given the layout of our cabinets that came into the dinning room, we realized the cost to keep it hardwood throughout was not much more. We decided to choose a maple red stained hardwood floor throughout. It looked great next to our cabinets and left the old timey look of oak behind.
